This month started with a magazine from 1968 from the Sail Training Association. I picked this up at a car boot on the 2nd and scanned it the same day. For its age, it was in incredible condition. It was interesting to see that it was printed in two colours (black and blue), which is unusual (but does give you some idea of the amount of money involved)!
It is available here - from the Internet Archive (as usual).
Next, in a lot picked up from Bar Hill, there are several items which I will get around to scanning in addition to a lot of "space" material (including the Apollo 13 "Night Final" edition of the Cambridge Evening News).
The next item was a scan of a magazine called "The Fountain", published by Sawston Village College in 1963;
This is available here. The issue has been signed by several people - was this the graduating class?
One of the unfortunate parts of scanning any significant collection is when you find historically interesting items - but the copyright is still in force, so you can't freely upload them. This is the case with the items below;
The first two are books published in the 1950's by Pitkins. While they both could be out of copyright, it's not clear that they are, and as Pitkins are still active - I haven't shared them. The two originals I have will go to Cambridgeshire Archives for their use. They will probably just be binned as they (or the British Library) have existing copies. I'd prefer they dispose of them if they have to!Now, this version already exists in the Internet Archive (which I won't link to). But it was only uploaded a few days ago. Whilst my scan is in significantly better quality (as the original is in better condition), you can still purchase these cards from several places, so I don't want to risk it (Brooke Bond, in case you were wondering, is now part of Lipton).
And that's it for this weekend.
